In the village of Liendo you will encounter small clusters of houses,
green pastures, dairy cows, vegetable patches and small orchards. Small
green islands of indigenous trees and shrubs are scattered about the village
and the surrounding countryside, providing the perfect sanctuary for wild
fauna …
|
| In the centre of the village, surrounding the local church, you will find numerous examples of “Indianos” houses, homes built by Spaniards who had immigrated to America and returned home with fortunes. These houses now serve as witnesses to a past that was, at one time, dominated by immigration and great riches. The Liendo Valley also forms part of the route that makes up the legendary Camino de Santiago de la Costa, a religious route that pilgrims have been using since the Middle Ages … |

The steep and sheer coast of Liendo is a perfect place for you to observe “Mother Nature” at work. Not only will you be able to watch the mixing and merging of greens and blues and hear the mournful cries of seagulls from above, but you also will be able to witness the low-level flights of cormorants whose wings seem to barely touch the surface of the water as they fly over the sea. But most importantly, from this location you will be able to observe that mystery we call the sea, with its lingering scent and mighty waves that crash endlessly against the jagged rocks of the shoreline… |
| From this mineral conveyor, a relic of another age, begins a trail that takes you over the sea and through green pastures and grey cliffs to Laredo in less than an hour … |

Travelling along the coast of the Liendo Valley you will come across two beautiful beaches with fine white sand. The first is the San Julián beach (pictured above in the photo) located near the inn and the second, the nudist beach of Sonabia accessible by mountain trail from Liendo or by car from the village of Orińón … |
| From our inn you can take a trail that will lead you to the San Julián beach. Situated away from the hustle and bustle of other neighbouring beaches, the San Julián beach is one of Liendo´s best kept secrets. With its small and hidden cove, the San Julián beach is the perfect place for you to sunbathe or go for a dip. |
